Psychology of Alice.
In Adventures In Wonderland one can find there are many disorders that can be analyzed within this particular story. For example one can say Alice suffers from mix-ups in the brain known as Parapraxis. Parapraxis is very common in everyday life and is one that is almost immediately shown in the story. This is a repetitive act and for Alice is almost uncontrollable. What is parapraxis and why does it happen? Sigmund Freud’s has many theories on the conscious and subconscious. These theories give us a much deeper understanding of why this happens. Who is Alice what does this say about her true mentality. Could it be that this is just an act of forgetfulness in Alice’s case and nothing more. My interpretation is that she is just a young girl with a vivid imagination and nothing more.
Parapraxis – “A slip of the tongue or pen, forgetfulness, misplacement of objects, or other error thought to reveal unconscious wishes or attitudes” Have you ever said a word and meant another, for example call someone by someone else’s name or said something like “pass the bed and butter” instead of bread and butter. These are best described as example’s of parapraxis also known as “Freudian slips”. Most of us over look these mix-ups as a just a minor error. Supposedly they are the result of repressed impulses according to some of freud's theories. Freud believed the conscious mind is everything that we are aware of and the unconscious mind was everything else. The unconscious mind was basically all the thoughts, feelings, and memories that are not included in our conscious mind. He also stated “although we are unaware of our unconscious, they continue to influence our behavior”. Personally this means that we do or react to everything for a reason whether we know this reason or not. In most cases the error may seem to be a joke or just bizarre, but could likely show some deeper meaning once analyzed. A common pun goes, "A Freudian slip is like saying one thing, but meaning your mother." However, A Freudian slip is not only limited to slips of the tongue. It can be in our word perception where we might read a word incorrectly.
In adventures in wonderland Alice is a young girl from a wealthy English family, who finds herself in a strange world created by what most would think is her imagination. At first Alice seemed to be comfortable with her identity and has a strong sense of who she is. Throughout the story this confidence seems to fluctuate with insecurities. One can assume that Alice approaches this new world with the best intentions but conflict greets her at every corner. Many of the characters she comes across in wonderland are very rude toward her.
Chapters two and three of adventures in wonderland would be a good example of Freudian slips. Alice comes across a mouse in the pool of tears and tries to talk to him. She unintentionally offends and scares him by talking about cats. The mouse clearly expresses a fear of the subject however; Alice continues to offend the mouse by mentioning Dinah, her cat. “And she’s such a capital one for catching mice-oh, I beg your pardon!” She then assures the mouse that the cat will no longer be mentioned. Alice later asks if the mouse is fond of dogs and adds that she knows one that kills rats. Also to add she not only offends the mouse but other animals at the pool. The mouse later shares his history and why he despises cats. Each time she apologizes but these slip-ups occur time after time. A similar situation occurs in chapter 10 where she meets the mock turtle and the Gryphon. The only difference is that Alice stops herself before she said something offensive to the turtle. The Mock Turtle and Gryphon keep asking Alice which sea-creatures she is familiar with. She begins to describe seafood that she would eat then stops herself so that she doesn't offend her new friends.
I feel the only thing that is evident throughout the story is Alice’s growth. In the beginning of chapter 2 she spoke without thought and offended the animals, but in chapter 10 she held back not to offend the mock turtle. Her suffering from ‘Parapraxis’ is really just Alice’s childish and forgetful mindset. If Freudian slips occur because of your subconscious feelings and thoughts, what feelings could she possibly be having about these animals she is just meeting. Anyone just meeting a new person or environment might struggle with the same situations. Alice is just a child so it is even easier to slip up and cause offense. Children often speak their mind without regard for consequence. My interpretation of these mistakes are simply that they are just mistakes.

alice and the real world.
I think I’m going to approach this paper in the most best way that I know how. Basically use the information from class on psychology and compare it to the story. I’m going to talk about dreams in general, why and how. I'm going to use references from the text book and Freud's theories. I plan to do some compare and contrasting of the characters and what they might represent. And most importantly analyze Alice and her mindset through out the story. My true feelings are that Alice is running away from her reality in a way. sheesh! wish me luck.

Reading the first two chapters of wonderland has already cought my attention, again. As a little girl I have watched the movies and read different versions. I feel that now that im older I have a better understanding and can see the story from a analitical perspective. The detail so far in the story is great, It almost puts me right on the pages and in wonerland.

Marilyn Monroe....
"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."

About Me...
My name is India Katherine White, I think it fits me. I just turned 18 December 12. I didn’t really do much but I did ask for balloons and an ice cream cake like when I was younger =D I so happy especially when everyone sang happy birthday to me. I currently live in a two family house in the Bronx -__- not really my favorite. I have lived in Brooklyn and I was born in Harlem. My mother recently bought a house in Florida she says as soon as I get out she will be out lol. I’m Puerto Rican and Black and I really love my nationality. I say im a perfect mixture of both parents I find that pretty cool. I do get mistaken for Indian a lot. (really annoying) I think its cause they hear my name and it’s the first thing to pop up, real clever. I have two older brothers from my mom, one of which is a professor here at laguardia. I love them like crazy along with the nieces and nephews they gave me <3 6 in total 3 from each brother. I’ve been to catholic school in Harlem, (not my best) a public school in the Bronx. (not my best) I attended art and design h.s. in Manhattan as a fashion major. I feel high school by far has been the high light of my education. I say this because in high school I had more freedom also I came into my own and really blossomed ;) plus senior year was the greatest your defiantly running the school at that point. Lol now im attempting more years in school here at LaGuardia… so we’ll see how this goes. My dream in life is to be a Victoria Secret Angel, I day dream about it often.
Some of my favorite things in life are food, I live to eat. Sounds unhealthy, but I have been 125 pounds for the last 5 years. Mom says not to worry it will all catch up to me. (thanks mom) I consider myself a typical girly girl so I love to shop and things that are shiny, glittery or pink with flowers. I enjoy drawing not as often I as use to; high school really drained the fun out of that. I love music I think 70% of my brain is song lyrics lol I listen to mostly hip hop and r&b, but don’t put country and rock music pass me lol I know a few. Nicki minaj is my current favorite person I don’t know why... (Barbie!) I like to watch movies ive seen tons especially comic book based movies (so cool) I’ve gained that interest along with the drawing from my father. I am a little competitive so when in the mood I enjoy sports even if I don’t really know all the rules.
Pretty much that’s about it so get to know me I think im a pretty cool chick :)
